BLACK MOUNTAIN OHV PARK
We just got back from Harlan, and we had a great time.  Harlan is, to be sure, a hard core park.  We (Becca and JR, Steve Beaver and his friend Shane, Rummage, Brandon and Ashley Moretz, David, Tammy, and Dawson Conkin, Latt Moretz, Mike Cook and Justin, and Dianne, Trent, and I), made the trip up for the weekend.  We were led by Moretz's friend Landon who had been to Harlan before and agreed to show us around. Friday we started off running Pinball and then Railbed.  Before lunch we ran one other, cant remember the name, but most of us had to pull cable to get out of the last hill climb as it was really slick....  We broke for lunch and then went and played around in the lower Rock Garden.  After Lower Rock Garden we hit a trail called Killing Time, which was apt considering how long it took to get through it. Here is where we had the only real carnage of the weekend.  At the top as I was hammering my way up to the top, i noticed that my hood was making some wierd movements, like a puppy trying to get out of a burlap sack....ok, I figured I broke a motor mount.  No such luck, as closer inspection revealed that my frame had broken about 3/4 of the way through right in front of the motor mount.  I got it back on the trailer and some of us called it a day while the rest ran a few more trails. Back at the hotel the grinders and welder came out and largely thanks to Moretz and his Dad Latt,  a repair was made to the frame.  Rummage worked on a few minor issues with the Datsun and with help from everyone pitching in we got set up for the next day and finally went to dinner around 9 or so.  A big thanks to everyone for helping and being patient while repairs were made to the jeep. Saturday we headed back out and hit the trails again.  We split into two groups, with one group running Mason Jar and the other going up and running Tombstone and Upper Grace.  We broke for lunch and then went to Lions Den to see who was willing to drop in for the trail.  Lions Den is no joke.  Only Landon and Moretz were willing to give it a go and it was pretty impressive seeing them get through there. Then we went and ran a trail called Intimidator that had some great hillclimbs.  We ended the day playing around on the Middle Rock Garden before calling it a day.  We went back to the trailers and loaded up and then went to dinner at Ken and Pauls Steak and Pizza....it was a good dinner after a long day. Sunday those that didnt have to leave right away went and did the zip line at Harlan.  There were 11 different zip lines with one about 2000' long and several hundred feet in the air over the valley.  That was a lot of fun and we got some good video as they had helmets with gopro mounts on them. It was a good trip.  I wish we gotten the cabins like we did at Windrock but now we know to get that reservation early next year.  Thanks to everyone that came and post up your video and pics when you get them together....
