Saturday May 19, 2018 some members of CORE joined the local Off-Road Community by taking part in the Scott Fields Benefit Ride. Scott has been a longtime advocate for the sport of Four Wheeling, working with the Uwharrie National Forest on trail access. Scott is battling cancer and all proceeds of the benefit ride went to Scott and his family. The benefit ride was organized and staffed by members of the Carolina Trail Blazers and they put on a great event. Richard and Sandra Queen, Rod Alexander, Eddie and Catherine LeHaye, Tammy and Dawson Conkin, and Tim Savelle met up for the ride. There were two groups being led at Big Creek, a moderate group and a “Challenge” group. Seeing that most of the group had a trip out to Moab in less than a month, we opted for the moderate group. We had a great time weaving in and out of the tight trails at Big Creek and meeting the other participants of the ride. Everything was going great until Rod decided he would like to get a new drives-haft so he promptly twisted his current drive-shaft in two…. It was a great event for a great cause to support Scott.
