WHO IS CORE?Carolina Off Road Extremists (CORE) was founded in 1999 by a group of individuals who enjoy "Jeeping" and being outdoors. CORE is open to all types of 4-wheel drive vehicles and all range of skill levels. However, please be aware that CORE focuses on ‘four wheeling’ and ‘rock crawling’ and generally does not participate in what is generally considered as ‘trail riding’.WHAT’S THE COST OF MEMBERSHIP?Membership is $50.00 a year per vehicle, renewed at the end of each calendar year payable by cash, check or Paypal. HOW IS MONEY FROM DUES USED?The club only retains a small portion of your yearly dues for club operations such as shirt and sticker purchases, firewood for our camping trips and campsite reservation fees. More than half of your yearly dues are committed to our “Support Our Sport” campaign. This portion of the yearly due is dedicated to protecting our sport, keeping trails open, and preserving our hobby. This money may be used for trail maintenance, to purchase materials for trails, or to rent/purchase equipment to donate to varying organizations. I DON’T LIVE IN CHARLOTTE, CAN I STILL JOIN?Certainly, we have members located all around the Charlotte area including areas such as Lincolnton, Upstate South Carolina, Salisbury, Concord, Harrisburg, Huntersville, Hickory, Lumberton, Steele Creek, and even Alabama. WHAT’S INCLUDED WITH MY MEMBERSHIP?Your annual membership includes a CORE sticker, access to our club NC4x4 forum and group email, ability to utilize club ‘wrenching days’ and unlimited participation in club events. ONCE I JOIN, HOW TO I GET INVOLVED?We have our monthly meetings in Charlotte (location and time determined individually, but usually at 7pm on the first Monday of the month at a local restaurant). The location rotates to various locations in the Charlotte area in order to equally accommodate all members.CAN MY FAMILY PARTICIPATE CORE EVENTS?Yes, CORE is a family-oriented club that encourages participation of the family while enjoying the sport of off-roading. Most events have considerable attendance of member spouses and children.WHEN AND WHERE DOES CORE RIDE?We plan a minimum of one club sanctioned trip a month during our ‘season’ which extends from the beginning of April to the end of October. Members will also typically schedule additional trips to various locations throughout the year. Trips will range from 1/2-day rides to 4 day events. Members will elect to camp or make other hotel accommodations on multiple day trips. See our ‘Past Event’ tab to explore CORE’s past wheeling destinations.MY VEHICLE IS STOCK, CAN I STILL JOIN AND PARTICIPATE?Yes, we are a group of off road enthusiasts that enjoy the outdoors, meeting other off-roaders that enjoy 4-wheeling, camping and playing on the rocks. We adhere to the "Tread Lightly" policy. We encourage 4-wheeling in a friendly atmosphere. We welcome new members, beginners and veterans that enjoy the sport of 4-wheeling. Members vehicles range from stock to custom built or heavily modified. Most events will contain aspects that challenge everyone, regardless of vehicle capability or skill level.WHERE CAN I FIND THE UPCOMING EVENTS?Upcoming events can be found in our ‘Schedule’ tab. The schedule for the year is typically set in January while incorporating any input from members to personal schedules to be coordinated if desired. CAN CORE PROVIDE ADVICE AND HELP WITH MY VEHICLE?Yes, CORE utilized ‘Wrenching Days’ for members. Members will propose a needed repair or upgrade task to the club. If the task is viable for a Wrenching Day, one will be scheduled at the proper location (usually the requesting member’s home or a volunteering member’s shop). Available members will attend the Wrenching Day to execute the task. Also, questions my be posted for advice on NC4x4 or through the club email.DOES CORE PARTICIPATE IN EVENTS OTHER THAN RIDES?Yes, CORE has monthly meetings and has an annual Independence Day cookout. CORE also participates in events such as the Charlotte Auto Fair, previously the Touch-A-Truck charity, National Forest Service Uwharrie workdays and the Uwharrie Fall and Spring Jamboree. CORE also is considering parades.HOW IS CORE GOVERNED?Formally, the club is governed by a leadership team: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and three Directors. Significant issues and decisions are voted on my members. Click for the Club Bylaws.IS MEDIA ACCESSIBLE OF PAST EVENTS?Yes, photos and videos from rides can be found and posted in several locations. The Media Pageprovides links to members Youtube channels and the Club Shutterfly page. The Past Events tab also includes photos and videos from events.
